Hazleton Chief Of Police JERRY SPEZIALE, MAS
Jerry Speziale is a renowned, accomplished, and decorated Law Enforcement leader with over 35 years’ experience. His early career with the NYPD DEA Task Force was the subject of a novel, “Without a Badge”, which he authored. Currently he serves as the Police Chief for the City of Hazleton, Pennsylvania. Jerry served for two years as the Police Commissioner for the City of Paterson Police Department, which saw 27% reduction in homicides, 12% in violent crime and 5% reduction in overall crime. Jerry Speziale returned in 2014 to New Jersey after serving as Chief of Police for the City of Prichard Police Department a Mobile, Alabama urban center, which was one of the nation’s most violent cities in the state. Jerry and his team were responsible for reducing violent crime by 48%%, restructuring the department, and making a safer city through 21st Century Policing Concepts such as data driven policing, problem solving, intelligence led, predictive analysis, strategic initiatives, resource allocation and the comp-stat accountability module. Previously he served as the Deputy Superintendent of Police for the NY/NJ Port Authority Police Department comprised of 1700 sworn members for (4) years.
Prior to that Jerry served as Sheriff of Passaic County for nearly a decade, and held several other Chief and Command positions in New York, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania.
Jerry graduated with a Master’s degree in Administrative Sciences from Fairleigh Dickinson University, a BS degree in Criminal Justice from Caldwell College, attended the University of Louisville Southern Police Institute Administrative Officer’s Academy, Princeton University FBI Law Enforcement Executive Development School, and the prestigious Harvard University Kennedy School of Government’s Senior Executives in State and Local Government program.
