Acting Police Chief William Fraher

Chief William G. Fraher was appointed to the Paterson Police Department on January of 1975, where he proceeded to move up the ranks and work in every division within the Paterson Police Department. 

Chief William Fraher is a graduate of Rutgers University with a BA, BS and MA and presently is an adjunct professor with John Jay College of Criminal Justice in New York City. Through his professional and academic experience Chief Fraher has participated and has been a founding partner in the development of CORESTAT, a law enforcement partnership within the Passaic River Corridor, which includes police departments from the Bergen County, Hudson County, Passaic County, Essex County and the NJ State Police.

William G. Fraher was appointed Acting Chief of Police on February 1, 2012 where he continues to lead the men and women of the Paterson Police Department in the third largest city in the state of New Jersey. In his capacity as Chief of Police, William Fraher has been instrumental in working with the Police Director, Administration and Community Activists to identify new strategies to combat crime and disorder for the citizens of Paterson.
